Leave a personal statement – the world needs it.

Art & Soul Reloaded is an exciting book by Pam Grout that takes you along a year-long apprenticeship for summoning the muses and reclaiming your bold, authentic self (whatever that happens to be).

When I first started reading it, the first few pages struck a chord in me:

“All my life, I’ve been a closet bohemian… I always longed to live big, be outrageous. … Inside, I have always been Isadora Duncan.

I want to suck the marrow out of life, be Zorba the Greek. But at the same time, I want people to like me. I woke up one day to discover that my bold Isadora Duncan self had given way to a rote, lonely life…. my outrageous dreams had been left to languish in the crisp green lawns of suburbia”.

YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT

Holy shit, I thought; this is me. And so I started practising each week the exercises: the book talks about art and creativity, but this can be interpreted/used in many ways. For example, it is all about reclaiming your more authentic self, the inner child and their dreams and self-expression because your inner child never stops calling you to what you are meant to be. And there is nothing worse than giving up on yourself and your dreams.

Each week the book takes you through the journey of breaking through all the barriers we have created to control our inner child, the buried dreams.

Now is the time to start leaving our mark, to tell the world our personal statement. What we are here for?

And in the words of Banksy: “Graffiti is one of the few tools we all have. And even if you don’t come up with a picture to cure world poverty, you make someone smile while they’re having a p**s”.
