ThePeopleAlchemist Edit: Business & Lifestyle Experimentation for #TheWomanAlchemist #SmashYourCeiling #SundayReads – Kill Bill
“I Was Just A Girl Who Held Her Heart In Her Hands And Then Tossed It Out For All To See” – Jen Lee, Filmmaker.
It Is Sunday Reads folks and week 23 of Art & Soul Reloaded, my yearlong apprenticeship for summoning the muses and reclaiming my bold, audacious creative side in Pam Grout’s footsteps.
So far, I have approached this journey as a mix of relating the subject that I’m reading and documenting. I have resisted letting go and letting my inner Isadora Duncan completely loose – be it fear of opening up or wanting to be liked or whatever…
Grout’s books, however, have the tendency, the gift of drawing you in no matter what, you can’t help with experimenting, in practice, and not just reading. I did all the experiments in both E-Squared and E-cubed and wrote about it.
Week 23 is the start of Section 3: Kill Bill – Where we exact revenge upon the many myths about creativity starting with ‘Myth 1: To Make Art, You Need Money’.
The whole chapter/week is about following your gift, passion, and expressing yourself, which does not need money. It just requires persistence to keep going and take the next step.
It is not FOR the money either…
“Money was never the goal; it was freedom. I just wanted to be able to not go to work” – Shay Carl, YouTube Superstar.
And guess what? This week’s exercise is to make a YouTube video. OK, Universe, I can see a pattern here: are you trying to tell me something?
What about you? Are you resisting letting your true self loose and out there in the open?
Have you ever made a YouTube? Share, I’m dead curious…
