Letting The Muse Take Over And Write My Stories

Week 13 of Art & Soul Reloaded talks about letting the muse take over.

Grout says: ‘before the Reinassance and the age of rationalism, it was common knowledge that great artistry came from the outside….. The going term in ancient Rome for this magical force that inhabited an artist was “genius” (e.g. an attendant spirit)… Socrates believed he was tutored by a personal “daimon”.

When the Reinassance came along that emphasis moved to the individual as the centre of everything.

I was wondering if I was trying to self-sabotage by not writing much (again) this week but now, reading this chapter, I think I have intellectualized writing too much and made blog planners, read a book about it and so on instead of letting go and channelling intuition (like Lawrence Block so clearly talked about in Write For Your Life – The Home Seminar For Writers) and now I see it right here, right now as I am reading Chapter 13 ‘The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers’ –  I need to let go and let it flow.

I can hear  Block words in my ears: ‘Why aren’t you at home writing?’.

My old thought patterns have come in the way, the Little Editor in my head has resurfaced and I just need to tell him once and for all (and perhaps a few times more) to S.T.F.UP, seriously.

So a baby step today and I start with my muse channelling new words through me and The Laura New Dictionary Of Dreams is coming out soon;-p
