ThePeopleAlchemist Edit: 30 days to a more powerful self-image – time to dream – Part 1

The Thirty Days To A More Powerful Self-Image as a writer (or whatever you want to be/do) leads to an inevitable question: now what?

The Little Editor in your head is now under control (relatively), you’ve declared you are willing to act in the presence of fear and not to allow fear to stop you from doing whatever you desire to do, you’ve been affirming and practising every day, but now it is time to write – as Block says: ‘Why aren’t you at home writing?’.

Why do you want to be a writer? And, most importantly, what do you want to get as a writer (insert here any other profession/vocation/dream, be it artistic or Director of Paperclips if that is what you fancy)?

But first you need to establish exactly what you want, and I couldn’t agree more.

Block gives a very personal example of how he always craved money and fame and was annoyed he wasn’t getting much. Why? He wasn’t asking, was careful not to ask too much and then moaned, ‘Universe, why aren’t you giving me what I’ve never asked for? Why can’t you read my mind and give it to me without me asking?’.

Are you doing the same? Time to stop and be specific right here, right now.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO GET – DREAMLINING

Here is a simple process that can help ( from Write For Your Life ) – take a clean sheet of paper write at the top of the page:

  • 5 Things I want to accomplish in the next five years; then on the next page
  • Five things I want to achieve in the next year; and lastly
  • Five things I want to accomplish in the next 30 days

The advice here is to write the most realistic (albeit stretching) goals you have, e.g. things you want to pursue in your quest to be a writer.

You might ask here: – Laura, what does Tim Ferris, dreamlining, and The 4-Hour Work Week have to do with this?.

Well, you will need to come back to tomorrow for Part 2 to find out …. :-p
