FEED YOUR MIND DAY 54 – READING EXTRACT

“There is an anecdote of the Far West that carries a wonderful lesson. A party of hunters, being called away from their camp, left the campfire unattended, with a kettle of water boiling on it. An old bear crept out of the woods and, seeing the kettle with its lid dancing about on top, promptly seized it. The boiling water called him badly, but instead of dropping the kettle instantly, he proceeded to hug it tightly. This is being a bear’s idea of defence. This illustrates perfectly the way in which many people hug their difficulties to their bosom by constantly regarding them to themselves and others. Whenever you catch yourself thinking about your grievances, say to yourself: ‘Bear hugs kettle, and think about God instead.”

Disclaimer: The book Around The Year with Emmet Fox and the extract in this daily blog are taken from, and inspired by, The Bible. Fox and The New Thought Movement and consequent teachers interpreted the Bible metaphysically. Equally, If you are religious (Christian or any other religion) or not, you can do so too. This is not a religious blog. It is a “change yourself, change the world around you” blog to motivate and inspire anyone willing to listen to achieve what they want to in life and business.
