ThePeopleAlchemist Edit: #SmashYourCeiling, change starts from within – Business & Lifestyle Experimentation for #TheWomanAlchemist – Holiday anxiety
Hello again,
can you believe is already the end of June? Time certainly flies …
With July just around the corner, literally – tomorrow – I start to think about holidays. Better still taking one. Holidays should be the embodiment of fun and joy but for some people, they bring a certain amount of anxiety.
HOLIDAY ANXIETY
Say what? Yes, you’ve heard me right: anxiety. But Laura, what could someone be anxious about going on vacation? Well, whether is fear of flying ( which incidentally affects around one in ten people) or fear of stepping out of your comfort zone, it does happen. As an entrepreneur/business owner I have suffered in the past from anxiety when it came to taking time off. Heck, during the first few years of setting up my business I didn’t take any time off at all! Bug mistake, I was exhausted. So I can definitely understand. Business owners want to be available for their clients and provide a good service because business is personal.
I am especially talking here about solopreneurs/creatives and small business owners. If you are one of those, I have just one thing to tell you: STOP IT!
It is not doing anyone any good. Firstly, you need to organise your business with repeatable systems and processes so you are actually a business owner and not just an operator. Secondly, ensure you plan to take regular breaks/periods of time off. And but that I mean plan financially and in the service you provide. Finally, remember you can’t pour from an empty cup. You need to recharge yourself to ensure you can give your business and your clients your best.
For everyone else suffering from anxiety, don’t worry, you are not alone. Especially considering that with the pandemic majority of people haven’t been away fro some time. Not to mention worries about catching the dread C again (C-19). Just understand it is normal, and don’t let it ruin your well deserved time off.
See you tomorrow x
