It is Day 3 of 7 Day to Self-appreciation challenge – only positive thoughts allowed.
If you hope you did the exercises/suggestions of Day 1 (both dump the crap from your mind onto a page or two and then meditated) and Day 2, continuing the media/news “fast” ( fingers crossed) and started your journey to become a Bookaholic and Tapeaholic.
You should be feeling “better”, and things might even have started to make sense now. It is a Self-reinforcing circle: the more positive thoughts you fill your mind and your life with, the more positive people will gravitate around you and so circumstances ( as you’ll see opportunities rather than obstacles). And so your value.
Same as we covered in the No Negative Thoughts Allowed Challenge, it is now time to make a list and use the 90 seconds rule
MAKE A LIST & THE 90 SECONDS RULE
Last week you made a list of the habitual negative thoughts running your mind and your habitual triggers to recognise those thoughts when coming.
And then use that to STOP the negative thoughts in the first 90 seconds. Well, now look at the same list with all your habitual negative thoughts.
What are they? Do they go something like:
- you are not good enough
- what an idiot; I should have known better
- why these things always happen to me
- I can’t; I’m too young/old/poor etc.etc.etc.
First of all, welcome to the club. The majority of people on the planet think those same things at one point or another in their life. Even the most successful, rich, beautiful and adored people in the world. You are no that special.
Secondly, acknowledge them ( max 90 seconds) and then turn them around. And for at least another 90 seconds, say them in the positive and find one, two or three occasions when in real life you demonstrate that.
- Negative – I’m not good enough
- Positive – I am more than good enough. I am a great person; I deserve to ….. In fact, I know I am. I am helpful and supportive of my family and friends. I am …. ( you get my gist).
In the beginning, this might sound “fake”. But by practising it, little by little, you are reprogramming your neuropathways. After a while, these will become your new habitual thoughts.
Day 3 of 7 Day to Self-appreciation done.
See you tomorrow and have a great day x
