Resilience: Contribution

Hi everyone,

Quick question: When have you last engaged in any type of contribution?

We will get to that in a bit as we have just come out of a lovely weekend, especially one beginning with our look into self-care, I hope that you are as ready as I am to #smashyourceiling!

Following some self-care spoiling, as touched on in our last blog, we must acknowledge that it is not a fix-all solution.

You must look inside, understand, and acknowledge your feelings, and then accept that there will be changes. These changes can affect your lifestyle choices, your career, your health – it all depends on where you wish to improve.

As you know, whilst the journey is undoubtedly your own, I always have a few tips and tricks to help you on your way. More on that in our next blog.

So, what is the next step to resilience?

The answer is: Contribution

What is contribution?

A search online will give you many definitions, but in this case, a contribution is about you ‘giving back’ in whatever way you can.

Who you give to, and what you give is entirely up to you!

And let me tell you this, you don’t have to give the most expensive gifts, or bags full of money, or even the clothes off your back to ‘contribute’.

Contribution can be as simple as spending 15 extra minutes with your kids, going on a family drive, inviting your neighbour for tea and a chat, or even giving just a loaf of bread to someone less fortunate – the possibilities are endless.

Of course, I believe that charity begins at home, so start there. However, don’t just stop there.

Why is it important?

A major benefit of contribution is that it gives you a purpose which is a vital component of resilience. It also makes a difference in the life of the one you have contributed to – and yes, even that few more minutes of play makes a major difference in a child’s life.

Simply put, contribution is adding something, anything, that is positive, and of value to someone else’s life.

Ask yourself, whose life am I going to make just a little brighter today?

And that sparkle that you add to them, will glow within you!

See you soon x
