ThePeopleAlchemist Edit:  Be your best self – #SmashYourCeiling, change starts from within -Business & Lifestyle Experimentation for #TheWomanAlchemist

Forget about the glass ceiling: what is your own ceiling? Do you know?

Your Self-image is your own portable glass ceiling and, until you smash that one, forget about smashing anything else.

That’s right. We talked about how Self-image is the internal setpoint for body image, money. And it is for career too.

All these are manifestations of what we think of ourselves. Of how far we think we can go. Of how much we think we deserve to have/be.

Everything in our world (and I mean E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G) reflects our mental attitude toward ourselves. There is no escape.

WHAT IS YOUR OWN CEILING?

I have always strongly believed that we (as women) have to take ownership and stop giving external forces control of our lives and careers. Heck, I even wrote a book about it, “STOP IT! It is all in your head”.

But it is not just external forces. We have our own internal set point that determines how much we can achieve. That invisible glass ceiling that comes with us everywhere we go and affects everything we do.

The ceiling in our head is the only one that is truly stopping you, me and every woman (to be fair it affects men too) to achieve what we really want.

Our Self-image IS our portable glass ceiling.

What is a “woman’s place” has varied throughout history. There were and there are cultural religious and family paradigms all contributing to form our Self-image with its limitations and quirks.

Now we can’t change the past. Neither is useful to blame our parents (they did the best they could with their own paradigms).

The point here is to understand how much we have absorbed these paradigms and internalised them so we can finally stop them from controlling us.

Again, this might not be an area where you have an issue yourself. If that’s the case, I’m happy for you.

But if it is, then it is time to take stock of where you are (careerwise, or businesswise if you own your own business) and really dig deep.

That’s right, it is time for freewriting again. Hey, we are digging deep and unrooting all those paradigms that hold us prisoners in our “box”.

It is time to break free, so let’s start writing.

Here’s the prompt: “What is a woman’s place? And what’s YOUR place?”

Get writing and I’ll see you tomorrow x

USEFUL READING

“Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz.

Psycho-Cybernetics is a terminology originally coined by Dr Maxwell Maltz in the 1960s, further explained in this bestselling book. Here, Maltz explains that our self-image controls our ability or inability to achieve any goal.

In this book, you can find techniques for improving and managing self-image visualization, mental rehearsal and relaxation – a prescription for thinking and actions leading to quantifiable results—one of my 4 books of the month.

Available on Amazon.
