Want to know my Best Meal this month? The Pig and Butcher certainly is The One

Lifestyle Edit: #MyBestMealIslington - Angel

Welcome to June Feature blog # MyBestMealIslington covering this month The Pig and Butcher  , in the Angel area.

The Pig and Butcher opened in 2012 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, becoming one of North London most sought destinations, especially for Sunday roast.

This pub is my sort of Heaven: a very typical Islington gentrified pub with a pale colour scheme reflecting plenty of light from the large clear windows, mismatched wooden furniture scattered around a large and open bar in a very arty and casual chic style - a relaxed atmosphere, not-intimidating if you're walking in alone, not to "pub by" ( yes, I think I think I made this word up)  and with seating places outside ( for when we are lucky and the sun shines).

The best part for me though is that all their meat is British and straight from local suppliers;  they buy in full carcasses and butcher on site which allows them to sell rarer breeds at lower prices so, when they say their menu changes daily, it really does as it depends what they have left or what has just arrived.
When I say rare breeds I mean meats such as White Park cattle, Iron Age pigs and Hebridean lamb; they of course serve fish which is supplied straight from the South Coast and a call every morning tells them what was the day catch and recommendations.

Drink-wise they stock craft beers and wine from family-owned vineyards, some aperitif cocktails and a selection of local hand pulled ales.

I went today and was tempted to order 3 courses but, looking around, I noticed quite big portions so I sticked to 2 courses and thank God for that, the portions are on the VERY generous side.

I ordered the gloriously super delicious  Slow cooked Angus Brisket & Bone Marrow for 2 to share ( I wasn't alone, I'm not that greedy) and I just about refrained from licking the plate as I'm told it is frowned upon ;-), followed by the  Cheeseboard with fruit & goat’s cheese twist, oat cakes & red onion chutney (cheeses were  Tomme aux Fleurs, Gouda Arras, Cornish Blue, Givernois) whilst my friend had the  Spring mess , a lemon mousse with lavender meringue, Yorkshire rhubarb & lemon balm.

They have also recently added a private dining room available for either lunch or dinner, seating around 16-24 guests and offer a feasting menu served on vintage platters ‘farmhouse style’ for the table to share.  What's there not to like?

For me this is meat foodie heaven and most certainly #MyBestMealIslington - Angel - no question about it, a  #MustTry.

I am so utterly delighted that my book is now out, available to order both on paperback and on Kindle edition just in time for Business Women's Day - YES!!!!!! :-)

STOP IT! It's all in your head   is my labour of love and my way to encourage, inspire and empower women to achieve what they want professionally and not be confined by societal, religious, family paradigms of what " women should do/are like" and, most importantly, the restrictions in their head.
If that is being CEO of a Global Company or a stay-at-mum or Director of Paperclip ( whatever grabs your fancy) so be it.

Writing this book was also a personal challenge ( the 30 days thingy) which confirmed to me once and for all that you can really do whatever you set your mind to, if you really want to that is.

Couple of tips for writing a book from me:
  • write about what you are passionate about, you know more than you think.
  • free-write about the parts/chapters in the book you like the most and you are most interested in first - that will give you a great boost at the beginning - you can edit and add the boring bits later - by then most of the book will be almost there
  • keep your own voice - write as you speak so to speak ( people do need to understand you though..)
  • keep an open mind, ideas will flow into you mid-way through the project
  • a deadline and going public is good to beat procrastination ( but if that stresses you out too much don't do it) - the deadline certainly helped me.
You can do it too!!!

The time is getting closer and closer to the release of   STOP IT, It's all in your head   my new book ( 22 September for Business Women's Day - US) .

I have now  received the proof copy of the paperback which looks absolutely fabulous: a couple of things to correct but overall I am super happy with the result.
A lot of marketing to do now between Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+ ( which is PS: looking like more work than the actual writing of the book).

The book event/launch/talk is live on Eventbrite and you can buy an Early Bird ticket now:
